Juan Andrés Talamás is a Research Assistant at the Living Lab & Data Hub of the Institute for the Future of Education (IFE), Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. His role is centered around performing research and predictions on student dropout and understanding how to best intervene to change those predictions.
He earned his Master’s degree in Control Systems from the Imperial College London, and his PhD in Computer Science from Tecnologico de Monterrey. His expertise lies in Explainable Artificial Intelligence, and its uses in detecting differences in feature effects between subpopulations in a wide range of cases, including education. He is focused on how to provide useful, actionable, and understandable information based on AI models towards preventing student dropout.
